I thank you all for making ‘Chenpain’, the Comprehensive workshop on Management of Pain in July, 2010 a grand success. It was highly appreciated by everybody, including the overseas faculty. As part of our ongoing effort to inculcate training in pain control procedures, we are proud to announce the following course.

Pain and Palliative Care services have become the need of the hour. The W.H.O. as well as the Government of Tamil Nadu are attaching a lot of importance to this field. This explains the acute need for people trained in this branch of medicine.

The ‘Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care’ is jointly organized by the Indian Association of Palliative Care and Institute of Palliative Medicine, Calicut, a WHO recognized center for Palliative Care. As the Regional Coordinator for the same at Chennai, I would like to state some of its salient features

1. It is a two months Correspondence Course
2. It will have two days of contact classes on a consecutive Saturday & Sunday at Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai in November, 2010.
3. There will be two hours of a simple examination on a Sunday in January 2011.
